Major faults with a polo just outside the warrenty recognised by VW database

i have an 05 polo twist it is 3 years and 3 months old last week all at the same time the water pump went collapsed bearing inside that damaged the cambelt had it fixed £537. next day the ecu went apparently on data base as a problem occurring in many 05 polos. £568 but as a "good will gesture" vw contributed half of cost.in my oppinion if it is a manufacturing fault excessive on certain cars of certain years and recognised by vw then the warrenty of 3 years should not apply to that particular problem. two vw mechanics also told me that it is very rare for a water pump to go at all on my aged car unless faulty or the care being thrashed. that i certainlly do not do.also perhaps the water pump lost water into the ecu as it is electrical or maybe it was damaged by the mechanic when doing the cam and water pump. anyways iam not very happy built to last my foot. iam currently in dispute wth vw and the situation is under investigation. i have owned her from new, serviced regularly by vw and she has done 29000 miles.has this happened to anyone else out there?i will not give up my dispute untill iam reembursed further.i have lost faith in what i thought was a highly reputable company they think they are doing me a favour.many thanks for anyone out there who has taken the time to read my grievence.deborah.
