I have a 1995 reg Polo 1.4 and it is reving high on idle (approx 1200 - 1500 rpm) even when warm. The revs drop very low and the engine also tends to cut out when stopping when warm.
Have changed the spark plugs and air filter but still the same. Any help to cure this problem will be very much appreciated.
Also the digital mileage reader shows error.

Have you had you Polo connected to a diagnostic machine / VAG-COM to see if any faults stored?

Thanks for the advice. Not as of yet. will get it in for a check up next week and post results if problem solved.
