I have just bought a 98 vw polo 1.4L. I drove it home and noticed that the heaters didn't Work.  I have tried squeesing the radiator pipes which made no difference to the temperature inside.  I noticed that when I left it running standing still the temperature gauge went up and over heated, only once.  The second time I tried this after flushing water through, again the temperature started to go up and I felt the large pipe to the front (coming from the radiator) start to get firm, so i decided to kill the engine and ask for help.  Please.  Once other thing I noticed the fan didn't kicked it.  Cheers

Thank you very much for getting back to me, I am greatly appreciated, I do believe that is above my diy skills, so I think I'll book it into a garage.
