newbie with running problems on a 1.3 polo

i've recently brought an l reg 1.3 polo and it has a problem with missfiring and kangerooing whislt running on a slight throttle but if you open the throttle fully it runs fine has anyone got any suggestions on wat it could be

You need to get it plugged into a diagnostic machine and see if any codes stored - could be any one of many things gone wrong - duff coil / duff ht leads / lambda probe / earths / rotor arm cap.

What have you checked / replaced so far.  Also as per the sticky note, can you give us the engine code and any other relevant details
