help!!!!

hey guys im new on here, just wondered if any1 could help me. i bought myself a 1.0 vw polo and the engine blew up on me before xmas. ive looked in the book to see that the engine code is AEV ( the car is Nreg which i think is 1996??) i cant seem to locate a engine of that code anywhere but i keep coming across AER engines which were fitted to the 1998 cars i think as my sister also has a 1.0 vw polo and her engine is AER. does any1 no if the AER engine would work??

If the AER has the same style of rocker cover then it should work - maybe some of the ancillaries would need to be swapped.
The inlet manifold etc is different (plastic)

So for ease it may be simpler to find another AEV engine
