Non-finishes mar the RacingLine Polo GTI's first 2009 outings in rounds 1 and 2 of the Volkswagen Racing Cup 2009

Guest driving the RacingLine Polo GTI at the 2.7-mile Oulton Park circuit, Green started from 20th position in round 1, going out after only 5 laps of the 10-lap race. Round 2 was equally frustrating; the journalist started from 18th position, but later retired 2 laps from the finish. ![]() Doug Ross was absent from the first rounds of the 2009 Volkswagen championship, but we look forward to his return The other Polo racer in the series, Volkswagen Racing Cup veteran Doug Ross’ ‘Sport’ 2.0-litre, was absent from the first rounds of the championship at the Cheshire Circuit, but should make an appearance later in the season. Brought over from South Africa where it was used as the press car in the African one-make series, its normally-aspirated engine develops 207bhp, from a 1.8T bottom end with a Golf 20V cylinder head.
